Is there good air flow over the ESC? and how much flying are you doing at less than full throttle? ESC's generate most heat at part throttle. You definately need to have the ESC swinging in the breeze as it were. If it is and you are getting high heat as in over 70 deg C contact the the supplier it may be a known problem or perhaps this particular ESC likes to run hot, but I doubt it.

You won't lose flying time, but I would try to do what Norsehammer said, get it into some airflow, keep it cool. ESC's should not get hot.

If it is still hot after you do this, then you have other issues, most likely something that is defective in the ESC if you are only pullling 45 Amps.
