Take a look at the combo Hobby Lobby sell for their 40 powered conversions IE Axi 26/28/12 matching Jeti controller and a 3 Cell 3000 or more LiPo.Aint cheap though and you will need a new charger to handle the LiPo.........Im sure there are other combos but I have this one in a three metre glider and know how well it works........Just my opinion of course and I am not an electropro by any stretch.......

3s lipo will not even come close for 3D performance on a 40 size model (~5-5.5 lbs).

A good setup and one that I use in a 40 size Yak (unlimited vertical at just over 1/2 throttle, 5.1 lbs) is,

Hyperion Z4020-14 motor
Thunder Power 5s 3300 Extreme packs
APC 15x8e prop

Any esc that can handle 5s and is good for 60-70A will suffice.

The 3300 mAh packs give only about 6-7 minutes of aggressive flying, if you want closer to 10 minutes you are going to have to go up around 3800-4000 mAh, but it adds weight.

You will hit around 1200W static with this setup, should give you good 3D up to about 6 lbs flying weight.

Hacker and Hyperion outrunners are virtually identical, so you could substitute a Hacker that has the same specs. Also the new Dualsky motors appear really nice and are cheap, so you just need to match the specs and pick something in your budget. Watch the motor weight, the cheaper the motor usually the heavier they are.

As Chad says, not enough poop on 3S. Another alternative is the Himax H50 on 6S 3 AH li-ion. Probably not as much poop as Chads setup but would do the job for that weight.
Tried for my kamikazi pilots licence. Flunked the test.
