Re: Latex Paint

All you need to know about painting with latex: Hope it helps.

I did a p-39 in latex. So much easier than other methods. I use lustrekote epoxy clear. If you only mist it on in very light coats, you won't eat the latex and will be fool proof to glow. Like Ed, I don't think water based poly is fuel proof beyond about 10% nitro, and even that may be pushing it. I had to redo a whole pattern plane because of WBP, but that ran on 25-30%. It turned everything to goo.

Lately I've taken a little different approach. I'm using plain old Testor's enamel "off the rack" (the little spray bombs). Your hobby store will have a rack. I then clear coat with Lustrekoat clear (flat or crystal clear depending on the type of finish I want) by the aforementioned misting method. I can not believe the lovely finish! Weight is way down, due to the fact that pure opacity is acheived with only very, very light coats of paint and clear. I've taken to doing all my pylon racers with this method and it's working very well. Lots of colours to choose from too.

It's supposed to be fun. Experiment!
