Need to borrow Towerpro ESC programming box in KW (ON) area

I'm desperately trying to run 2 cells on a Towerpro Mag8 12A and 20A ESC but with no success. The beeps are driving me nuts!

Can I borrow one of the new programming boxes from someone in the KW area so I don't have to wait till the mail comes in a week or two?
It's the one for esc's with the "acro" sticker on the back.

Send me a PM

Shane, Here are the instructions for the transmitter method. If you can't find a programming card. I'm not sure if these instructions will work for the 12A or not. should have the manual for the other models if these aren't accurate. I know the TX method is a real pain to do sometimes.

SETUP MENU (for new 18A /20A)

First, connect the motor and receiver to the speed controller

Remove battery power from the speed controller .

Turn on the transmitter.

Move throttle stick on full power position (UP Position)

Reconnect battery power to the speed controller

After 3 sec you can hear (all sound is 3 times)

∮ CELL Type AND Number

∮ Voltage Protection

ON you need programming menu, move the throttle stick to the middle position

1. Cell type and number SET

2LIPO ( 7.4V )

3LIPO (11.1V )

4. Voltage Protection

Attention: 10C or higher battery suggest select the 3.0V as the protection voltage. IF the option is you need, then move the throttle stick to UP position.

The long BEEP is save the option. And the system will go to the programming menu. You can setup other options.

When all you need option is setup ok, push the throttle stick to down position, after 1 sec the system will save all option, and then you can start the motor now.

I have these instructions but the new acro models don't seem to work the same way.

for example if I choose 4 beeps drop the throttle to half, i get one long tone, wait at half and then five short beeps, theres no further options.
I'm expecting - as far as I can read the instuctions anyway. that at half throttle I should get the option of one, two or three long beeps.

I'm using a Hitec OPTIC 6 synthesized with a std futaba 7ch receiver.

I'll be at the Dutchman scale rally Saturday and see if anyone has one there.

This is a common problem with TP ESC's. They constantly update the firmware but make no distinction between older and newer versions. And to compound that, they don't provide new manuals when they revise something, either.
It's for this reason that, though they're nice and quite reliable controllers, I don't intend to carry them anymore. It's too much of a hassle for the end user.

Good luck getting yours programmed . Prog box would definitely be the way to go if you can find someone that has one.
