No Loose Screws Here.........

I noted with sadness the recent death of PAUL MACCREADY, the american engineer who with his "Gossamer Condor" demonstrated sustained human powered flight, won the competition fror the first to cross the English channel, and developed fuel cells for his UAVs. See page R5 of Thursday, September 6's Globe and mail for the full Obituary.
One particular quote caught my eye: "Anybody who's not interested in model airplanes must have a screw loose someplace" Maccready said in an interview with the San Deigo Union-Tribune in 1992.
I and I suspect most model aviation enthuiasts have experienced the "grown men playing with toy airplanes" opinion of our activities.....
This quote, his lifetime of aviation achievements, recent robotic, and UAV advances, I believe negates the toy airplane view.
I, for one, will share this quote with the tuesday AM "group" I attend AND......print in large fonts a sign for my shop door.....maybe the fridge too.....
the PROUD, FREE, and SOVERIGN W.I.
