First Ever Build

Hi guys, i'm totally new to this hobby of rc aircraft, but have dabbled in rc alot of years ago. So i'm building my first trainer, it's the PT 40. Construction is coming along well i guess, at least from what i can tell but on being my first build, i have some crappy fit ups on the balsa sheathing on the wings, now i was wondering if i could use a lite weigh filler for some of the worse spots and how precise does everything have to fit before i cover it all up with monokote?

Hard to say exactly about the fit. Is it something which is structural? Then a good fit is important. Unfortunately, filler will not fix that. It adds no strength - just weight and it's purpose is cosmetic.

A few pix and alternately a description of the exact areas of poor fit would be helpful.

You may ultimately find that it is of very little concern.

Welcome to the club. Drywall spachling compound from Home depot works as good as anything. Get the lightweight stuff. You'd swear the jug was empty. If you havn't bought the Monocote yet, try Ultracoat instead. Goes on much nicer. They changed the chemistry of the Monocoat glue a few yrs ago and hasn't been right since.
Tried for my kamikazi pilots licence. Flunked the test.

thanks for responding guys, i had a poor fit up with two peices of balsa sheathing after i had the dihedral angle..the pieces weren't long enough to sand enough to fit over the i just left a gap about 1/8 in the middle and made sure i caught a rib towards the tip of the wing..but as i made more progress in building there was a piece of fiberglass which had to be glued over top of the whole joint anyways..

i have monokote already and have opened the package already..don't think they'll exchange it now but thanks for the tip
