My wife has diddled with the sticks, controlling a GWS Cub (fuselage) and, once or twice, "played" with the Real Flight simulator, but in the long run has no real interest in flying. I'm OK with this relationship, because she has supported me and this hobby for more than thirty years. It would be a rare occation if she didn't bring a lawn chair and book and join me at the flying field during weekly flying sessions or at regional events, plus she regularly helps out with kitchen duties at our fun flys. One of our favourite weekends is our annual trek to the KW Flying Dutchmen scale rally. We've been doing it for many years and usually spend 4 or 5 days in the area; we think of it as our "dirty" weekend together. Best of all she has never complained about the money I've spend on R/C related items. I think I'll keep her

well i tried to get mine interested but she has no interest and wont' come to the field with me but to be honest it's kinda my retreat from life worries and me time when i go so i really don't mind that she doesn't want to come with me

she also supports me when i crash and understands the addiction in a supportive way yet still restricts my spending to what i can afford

so i wish she'd show more interest but there will be no talk of divorce due to my airplane addiction

My wife supports me in this hobby(and my many others) but has no real interest in it.
She came out to watch our son Davey fly once and after he flew she went home.
She also has muscular arthritis and really cant look up for any length of time because of it.

My wife has come out to watch a few times.
She has no interest in trying the hobby.
She does understand when I need to go out of our way, say on holiday, to hit a hobby shop.
She does limit time spent on the hobby.
All in all she is supportive, but not interested in participating.

We met at the flying field and just celebrated 50 years of marriage- she always supported my passion for flying - but has no interest and does not appreciate this "Back and Forth" flying as she calls it!

My better half (41 yrs and counting) enjoys visiting the field once or twice a year, and the Club BBQ and so on. Has never wanted to try her hand and that's fine with me. Her main interest in aircraft is getting on one and going somewhere.
She has her hobby, quilting, and that keeps her busy upstairs while I am busy downstairs. Her hobby is just as expensive as mine, so no worries there, and hers requires every bit as much or more artistic talent, and skill, so we admire each other's handiwork.

In 25 years of building/flying the only comment she has ever made is: Build a real one, then I can go for a ride. She pretends that my hobby doesn't exist!

In fact, that's how my first marriage ended ... with my wife pushing me to sell my guitar to fund her mink, to the point of making me chose ... I grabbed my guitar, kissed it passionately and left without looking back ... I still have and love that guitar, I definitely made the right choice.

My ex could not understand my passion for the hobbies I have. I could never understand her not having any. Always seemed a better choice to spend money at the hobby or motorcycle shop than a bar or casino. It kept me home to. I have since found a more suitable replacement. I'm not sure I want her to get involved in RC. Since she has become an avid fisherperson I have to have some time away with the guys.
