Decent electric mid range truggy?

This spring I'm planning on getting my first r/c ground running vehicle (fly helis). I'm thinking a truggy/stadium truck, and definitely want lithium electric. What I'd had in mind is the rustler vxl, but I figured I'd post here and ask what people think would be a decent mid range rig. I've read on offroadcanada that losi and associated seem to be the preferred ones. It won't be competitive for now, but hope for the ability to take it that way later on. While at the hobby show a friend of mine saw the buggies racing there and seems to have gotten interested in it too, might look into making an off road track at our flying field. Parts availability, bashability, etc etc would all be factors in what would be a good idea to get. Thanks.

I honestly have to say, that the traxxas VXL is a good start.. but.. I would get the castle Creation Mamba Max 4600 setup and run of 11.1 Volts Lipo... the VXL heats up very very quickly....

you can even run the MambaMax 4600 @ 14.8 Volts if you want to see some insane speeds.. but 11.1 Volts will satisfy you... I've been running Brushless systems since 2000..
The Power of BRUSHLESS!!!!!
1HP (electric) = 746 Watts.
Everything is brushless!!
