Which Jet??

Hi guys I thought I would post this ? here. After reading about and seraching many forums I have yet to come to a conclusion. I'm some what new to this and was interested in purchasing a EDF Jet. I'm coming from a brushless Stryker (Which is the for sale section) and a parkzone Trojan but I have a need for speed and I've out grown both of these planes in there stock form so to speak. If you could stir me in the right direction I would appreicate it. Thanks in advance. I'm looking for something that has landing gear BTW. Sorry for all the ? Just looking for some advice from the pros. Again thanks

looks great

Yes it dose look good but you said you are looking for speed. This is not it look at the video clips it is no faster than a trainer At that price I do not think your getting the best engine fan you could and if you replace stock perhaps you could see better performance. Just a hint speed = price. you get what you pay for in my experince. Still a very attractive jet at a good price. I fly a Mig 17 and F86 both from hobby lobby the mig is faster speed wise both great fliers still not the fastesty jets I did see a Me 262 at Kitchener this year and it was fast, twin fans, good size and very realistic paint not cheap though. It is available through hobby lobby. Good luck in you quest for speed.

Since you're based in Toronto, the closest kit seller would be [url]http://www.modelsbyjohn.com/url] John Dutkowski.

I'd also check out Hobby Hobby, A&J HObbies and Pinnacle Hobbies as they'd be the most likely to carry ducted fan kits.

I'd also check out the Electric Jet Jactory and check the models for the e-Bobcat (or Bob-e-cat or whatever). I've got the Wemotect 480 design -- no gear, but the Midi-sized version should be workable.

If you want a complete system concept, I'd check out Larry Wolfe's company (www.jethanger.com) as he and his son have been covnerting some of their older and bigger kits to EDF -- last one that I saw was an A-7 Corsair II (also know as the SLUF)

I've been really happy with my Kyosho F-16; however, I did have to mod it to include ailerons as the elevator control suface was too small to effectively be used as an elevon. It was an easy mod; if you want pics just let me know.

Mine is bone stock with the exception of the above mod and it does about 104 kph (tested by a cop that lives 3 doors down from me). It's a really fun plane to fly. My only gripe is that you have to use rather small batteries (1320s-1500s) and the run-time is rather short. Stall speed is managable, you just have to give yourself a few passes to slow it down. It coasts forever.

I also have the GWS F-15. This one flies wicked! It's a bigger plane but is still very maneuverable and looks absolutely killer in the air. It's a very stable plane. I've flown it in a fairly brisk 30-40kph wind and didn't wreck! The nice thing about this plane is you can use bigger packs (go with 4 cell lipo or A123 cells). The twin ducted fans mean it sucks down the juice pretty fast. Run times are only about 5 minues. Stall speed on this one is excellent. Very very fun, and easy plane to fly.

F-16 is definietly the best bang for the buck that I've found so far; and it's pretty quick. I'm an EDFoholic now so I'm always willing to try out a new jet! Definitely post which jet you're planning on going with.

The F-16 (minus a radio and batts) is $209ish @ most stores. The F-15 is under $120 @ most stores but only comes with the motors. You will need radio, 2 ESCs and batts.
