skis suck floats rule i spent more time walking to get my stuck, stalled,or trying to fly a plane with two huge flaps or spoilerons depending on which way they flipped up or down
i much prefered floats they were made from corroplast which is so slippery i had trouble getting the plane to stop with the engine running hehe especially if the snow was a bit crusty winter flying is very different, that lazy engine sudenly become a tiger that trainer a 3d machine....okay not really but your plane will deffinatly fly better and noticably so i launch my foamy byplane by holding the top wing going to full power and letting go in the winter in the summer that same plane requires a light toss overhand or its not going to take flight

the only drawback i found to floats were the weight mine were heavy.
anyway just my thoughts and exsperiences have fun if you can stand the cold you'll have loads of fun
