Invert on Floats

Presently, I'm putting together a SIG Rascal ARF, in which I've installed an inverted Saito .56.
Once completed and tested, the maiden flights will happen on the frozen pond. However, if she survives my very first icicle flights, my intentions would be to float her in the spring.
After looking at that fairly wide open inverted engine installation, I started wondering if it's a wise choice for a float plane. Can anyone please share their thoughts on inverted engines on floats?? : Thankyou

I've spent most of my money and time on model airplanes, mean women, and beer. All the rest was just a waste.

It does not make any difference to the engine whether your flying from grass, gravel, snow or water provided you don't try to submerge the engine in any of these materials.
If you suspect water spray will be a problem solve that problem with splash strips on the inside edges of the floats.
Engine carbs are small vacums and will suck in particles from the air regardless how they are mounted.
I have had no problems with engines inverted on float planes.

i had two unionville 6 ft beavers ,a otter on floats with all of the engines inverted.i flew off of water for seven years without a problem .even after a few dunks in the lake.i ran four strokes in the planes inverted and never had a hydralic lock in any engine.just my two cents.

life begins under 10ft and ends at ground zero.
fly it like you hate it.

On the other hand, I have had engines mounted in all posible postions. The 4 strokes tend to be happier when they are side mounted, and that gives an added benefit of routing the exhaust pipe under the plane...
