You know how that first crash/ dent/ hangar rash , it's always the worst? Well I've already done it. The spit rolled off the table. Caught it before the prop hit. Scraped up the belly radiators and tore up the trailing edge at the flap position.
Should have had the wheel chocks in place.
Already got the microballons and epoxy out. It should be ok, just more work.

Thumbs up Re: Brian Taylor 1/5.33 MK IX spitfire build.

Hi, just wondering if you have flown your Spitfire and how did it fly?

Re: Brian Taylor 1/5.33 MK IX spitfire build.

The airplane flew great first flight. Problem is the muffler came loose in flight, it melted the vent line shut. Engine starved for fuel and died. Always in the wrong place. Kept the wheels up, resisted the urge to turn, and held it on a straight path into the high grass, passed the field. When I got to the plane The right aileron was broken and one cannon broke off. Got lucky. She's fixed and ready to fly again .

Re: Brian Taylor 1/5.33 MK IX spitfire build.

This is my first visit to your thread and I had to stop and comment on how good your Spitfire looks. Your attention to detail makes your model really stand out.

I particularly noticed the proper positioning and stance of the landing gear. I've built the Top Flite kit and the best I can say about the gear is that it works.

I also noticed that you actually built in the inner split flap panels....cool.

Anyway; great job...it looks fantastic.

One question if I may.....how did you attach the aerial mast so that you could detach it for transportation?

Mike

Thanks for the comments. Brian Taylor plans are ultra scale. The plane has flown a second time but needs more nose weight.

The antenna mast is carved from a small peice of hardwood with the male end of a electrical banana plug glued in. The fuse has a block with hole drilled for the plug to fit in. I use a small screw to hold it down.
