It's been mentioned on RCU and on RCG.

Charging A123-type batteries -

Thanks Squidbait - only one post (#21) on RCU confirmed the feasibility but the second, RCG led me to another site showing a nice circuit for a voltage limiting device, easy to duplicate. Or, more bother though, use my current limiting adjustable Lab DC supply for the non! Later disembowel a B&D VPX charger! Anyway, thanks -

A123 chargers

I have one of Sonic Chargers made by A123 available through Horizon Hobby:
A little pricey for what it does but I wanted a no fuss charger that can quickly charge A123's at the field.

If you go with a 3 cell A123 pack, you can't get any cheaper than "zip" charging.....
Mine is not to reason why; I just wire them up to fry...I mean Fly!

Been using the B&D VPX pack for a couple of months now and very happy with it. 4 cells, I use the FMA Cellpro updated for A123. Takes about 20 mins to charge.Made a balance tap from two servo plugs glued together as it's the same spacing as the Poliquest pins that are on the adapter. They hold there voltage right to the end, as matter of fact, on my old LMH heli was up about 75 ft. when it pooped out. Came down with full throttle on at about 8 or 10 mph. . Just bounced. More fun.
Tried for my kamikazi pilots licence. Flunked the test.
