Spinners for Electric Planes...

Hi Everyone,

I'm just doing some market research and I would like to know what you are using for spinners on your electric planes. Are you using aluminum, carbon fiber, plastic?

What sizes do you find the most popular?

What are the main deciding factors when choosing a spinner? (cost, weight, material, etc)

I think a plastic matching color is in demand. I have seen some that are
a see thru color which didn't turn me on at all.

Given size and color I choose the lightest - the electrifly series is not too bad ie. not overbuilt to withstand an electric starter. I have yet to find any that are as light as they could be though, in the sizes up to 2 1/2.
Good Day, WMK.

I like to use the "X" style firewall mount for my outrunners.
How about a prop drive attachment for AXI and similar motors, using a 1/4 X 28 thread on the prop stud, and made from a decent alloy or material, rather than the over-sized, soft, and ugly one that AXI sells??

Plastic spinners suck

I haven't found a plastic spinner that spins true. I hate them.
My acceptable list is MPI, Graupner, MPJet, although I've had one wobbly MPJet. Haven't tried TuTurn but I expect them to be fine but not electric=friendly.

Plastic generally, but on the big stuff 4" etc, I like foam. Very light and you can get the shape you want, such as for a Sea Fury. Lightweight spackle and paint. Tex.
