If you go to RCU, this video is posted in the jet section, and there is a bunch of full size airline pilots arguing about the best crosswind technique...
However, they generally agreed that this was not good airmanship....

I watched the video a few times and I personally think the pilot let go of the rudder too soon - too high off the runway and the wind immediately swept him sideways. He was doing ok until that happened. Should have kept his foot on the rudder until just off the deck, eased off the rudder until straight and kept the ailerons into the wind through touchdown and roll out.

Had the same thing happen to me landing a 172 Cessna. Touchdown was perfect but I neglected to hold the ailerons into the wind, the wind got under my right wing and I two wheeled it until I got the ailerons right. That is a scarey feeling.

It's easy to "armchair quarterback" from the safety of our homes. His manipulation of the controls may have been just fine but for a random gust at precisely the wrong moment. The pilot got everybody down safe that's all that counts. I have every confidence he was sweating bullets the whole time. Kudos to the air crew for not chalking up another nasty statistic.

A later news report stated the Co-Pilot was flying at the time of landing.
