CRRC 26CC engine

Hi guys,
My name is Harold, I bought 1 of these 26cc engines and was looking it over, now I've worked on 2 stroke and 4 stroke motorcycles for over 30 years, ok so while looking and checking this engine out, I noticed that on a visual look at the ignition pick-up, and while rotating the crankshaft,in the correct direction, the little magnet on the prop mount has rotated way past the pick-up, and the piston is still moving up to top dead center, this to me would seem like it would fire before the piston has reached the top, out of time, anybody had any experience with these engines.

Thanks Harold
Happy wife, happy life

Hi Harold,

The CRRC 26 uses an Auto-advance CDI ignition. It is microprocessor based and uses a programmed algorithm based on engine RPM to determine the optimum firing angle. Typical firing angles range between 27 deg to -3 deg before top dead center. This permits easy starts, low idle and minimizes kick back at low RPM (maximum retard of firing at or beyond top dead center) while ensuring maximum power development at higher RPM’s by automatically advancing the firing angle.

I hope that makes sense… As always, I stand to be corrected.
