Count Me In

Hi Guys, I have been doing AP for the last year in Lloydminster and area. SK/AB. I have gone through the TC hurtles and am fully insured. I found that TC is very good to deal with, their main concern is public and property safety. You must demonstrate that you can control your aircraft and put it where you want it. Insurance can be a bit frustrating but don't give up.

I agree with forming a bit of an organization to share ideas and support each other and will add my name to the list. I think it is a great idea.

If anyone wants info or suggestions setting up don't hesitate to contact me.

Eyeinsky,

My insurance broker got me insurance through Lloyds of London. $1700.00 per year. $1,000,000.00 liability and $2000.00 for my own equip, will be increasing my own equip coverage as I am looking to upgrade to a logo. I plan on increasing my own equip to $5000.00 and they tell me it shouldn't cause too much of an increase in premiums. I can't remember what else is in there but this is the stuff that applies to crash damages and that was my only real concern. I hope never to have to use it but all the same, I wouldn't fly without it doing commercial work. BTW they also require that you follow TC guidelines or you likely won't have insurance. I will have a look at your form in the next day or 2 and let you know.

Thanks for the assistance that is better than I seen. Most I have had "not" dealt with, have not assessed the risk just punch up the numbers. I would hope that if we could get together as group we could lobby these companies to provide service at reasonable rate.

I was thinking self insuring my equipment, asses the risk and charge accordingly, but carry fire and theft.

Eyeinsky,

When I first asked about insurance I stated that I did not want to cover my own equip, just liability. The response I got back was $1600 for liability and $100 for my equip. And they would not do one without the other. $100 wasn't worth even questioning I just said sign me up. $1700 was the cheapest I had heard of in Canada yet so it wasn't much of a decision.

Re: Count Me In

Wbird, did the insurance company diferentiate between helicoptors or airplanes? I wonder if the insurance would be any different between the two? I have a plane setup that I am working the kinks out of.

I live in North Battleford and would be interested in seeing your setup. If you are ever flying out here I would love to come and check it out.

Re: Count Me In

Manzan,

Hi neighbor, I don't think there is much difference between planks and helis as far as TC is concerned. Insurance shouldn't be an issue as they don't even know how to class it to begin with. There is obvious differences in take off and landing requirements but as long as you have a safety plan in place you should be fine. They want to see that you have thought it through and know what you are doing with the aircraft.

Send me and email and we can keep in touch. (I tend to not check in here very often.) Then when I go out your way I will get in touch. If you want to come this way I would be happy to show you my equipment and we could get a day of flying in. (I have a few planks as well)

I have attached a pic of my new bird, just finished and have a couple flights on it.
