Okay to paint onto microballoon/epoxy layer?

I presume it's okay to paint directly onto a sanded microballoon / epoxy mixture. I'm hoping I don't have to lay down a layer of .75oz glass over this.

I don t know too much but , if you add some primer it would help a great deal , it will fill all the tiny little pinholes , Don t forget to sand lightly .

painting onto micro balloons

The answer is Yes.
You can paint directly onto it. Just be sure to have the micro balloons/epoxy finish sanded with fine sandpaper.

Did it on full-size sailplanes with Varathane on top so I don't see why not!
