So the transmitter is pretty old,(at least for me). It is a Challenger 4000, Aristo-Craft, It was made in Korea. I don't know when it was purchased, my dad bought this plane for me a while back from someone. Although, I was discussing with my dad and we think that it would be better to purchase a new kit so as to have an easier plane to fly. Is this plane really that hard for a novice? Any suggestions anyone has to which plane would be best, cheap and not to difficult to build? I am thinking of sticking to gas motors but are there any real advantages to electric? I basically know nothing, and I really need a lot of information. Thanks for everything though.

Re: Online Stores

Sig LT 40 was a major trainer 40 size . I think maybe Nextstar has come close to it but have no experience with it. My preference is Glo or gas .Just keep eyes open on here and try and buy a local plane (no shipping issues)Find a club close by and befriend someone from it who knows something and try and get him to come with you on your buying trip. Most guys on here are as honest as the day is long but I did say most not all

Re: Online Stores

I too would recommend the Sig LT 40.
You can by an ARF (Almost Ready to Fly) at a good price.

You should find a local club before you buy a radio.
Find out what most of them use or if the club has Buddy Boxes for different makes of radios.

Get a radio that is popular with the club you want to join.

Make sure that a trainer cord is available for the radio you want to buy.

Good Luck

Re: Online Stores

I received my wings last year on a Goldberg Eagle II that I built from a kit. I found it was a little lighter that the LT 40 and flew every bit as well.

The Nexstar I found were a little heavier and not quite as steady/stable as the Eagle II or the LT40 especially in the wind.

That said, none of those three are poor planes to learn on. You will be glad you chose a high wing to learn on when you make some crooked landings that, on a mid wing plane, would result in a wing strike.
