You want to talk rip off shipping prices? Try shipping anything OUT of Canada......
$25 for me to ship a guitar from the west coast to Toronto, or $185 to ship the same guitar from Abbotsford to Portland. Fortunately I had the option to drive across the border and ship it within the US for $19!!!!
It's not just US companies with high shipping into Canada, I've actually bought items from the US even though I could get them in Canada because the shipping was less as well as the actual cost. I believe in supporting Canadian business, but Canadian business should support the Canadian consumer as well.
Case in point, I had to buy a full set of bushings, tie rod ends, ball joints and shackles for a 1956 Chevy. Best price I could get on the PARTS in Canada was just over $600, then they wanted $55 to send them to me AND I had the bonus of waiting 8 weeks for them. I bought the IDENTICAL parts out of Utah, INCLUDING shipping to Canada, they cost me $180 and I had them in 8 days.
If it had been up to $100 difference and the same time frame I'd have bought in Canada, but for roughly a $450 difference and WAY shorter time, sorry, I can't support that...
