Rule Change

After Hardcore it was decided that we needed to address the issues we are having with using rocket rounds as opposed to qual points. We have seen ALOT of problems with weather this season and this has played havoc with a standard for qualifying. As such we have made a change in rules to reflect this. This section came based on a formula that was used by the PLRC at Hobby Hobby. Now in a perfect world we would like to see 4 rounds of qualifying however with the number of registrations we are seeing and now the sun is setting earlier it is becoming less and less likely that this will be possible as a reliable means of doing business. Hence we have gone to a standard of the best 2 out of 3 as a basic criteria. This does not preclude a track from running 4 rounds if time and light allow. We are going to be discussing this further at the upcoming annual meeting at Glenwood and the procedure will be massaged from there.

For now this section will be implemented effective immediatley and we will be posting on the GLORCS website on the Thursday prior to the race at GCH.

Replacing 8(3)

(3) The GLORCS will use a points based system for qualifying as a standard. In this process after each round of qualifying drivers will be assigned a number from 0 to X based on their finishing position. This will be done for each round and the lineup for the mains will be based on the best 2 out of 3 rounds of qualifying.

(a) As previously stated points based qualifying will be the standard for race qualification. However with the unpredictability of weather an announcement will be made on the GLORCS website at www.----------- by 8:00pm on the Thursday prior to the event if there are going to be any changes in the qualifying format. If there is sufficient evidence to believe that there may be weather disruptions on the Saturday that would interfere with racing then the qualifying format will be switched to rocket rounds. If a switch is made due to possible weather problems that qualifying format will be the standard for that weekend and will not be changed.

(b) Should circumstances arise on a weekend, where points based qualification is used, where 3 rounds of qualifying cannot be completed the race director, in consultation with the on duty GLORCS rep will revert the qualifying format to rocket rounds. An announcement will be made to inform all racers.
