In Canada it sure seems to be yes. The last batch of stuff I listed on RCCanada I received ridiculous offers, $2000 items and I was getting $300 to $400 offers. After 2 months or so I listed the same items on RCUniverse for the same price, most was sold within a couple of days, or at least trade's were made for items I would use. I don't know why it is, but stuff on RCC never seems to sell for what it will on RCU.

Re: Estate Quandary

It's amazing that stuff you try to sell for at least 60% of what you paid for it when you are alive always goes for 10% of what you paid when you pass away...seems the norm. Widows always lose to buyers who know they don't have knowledge of worth. Maybe caused in part by most of us sneaking R/C stuff in the basement, etc and not telling the wife what you really paid for it?All kidding aside, I do know that Dennis does take great care to be honest with widows of our members...I hand that to him..I think when an estate is entrusted to someone that is a non-R/Cer and they also may dump the stuff cuz they have no idea of worth.
Taking advantage of a greiving widow is way below class standards.

Re: Estate Quandary

I think I'll leave my hobby equipment to the local club when I shuffle off the mortal coil. They can auction it off and put the money in the field development fund. Maybe I should check with the membership first.

I don't like adding up what I've spent from my entertainment budget on the hobby. Most of my stuff is probably worth under 50 percent of purchase price but it's still worth hauling out of the basement.

It's not what it's worth, but what the market will pay that counts.
