Re: Ingnition battery for CRRC 26i w. Rexel CDI?

a 4.8 battery pack will do just fine.i would go with a high capacity for longer flight times.i would get a pack at about 2500 ma.we have a guy in our club that uses a single cell lipo battery with no problems whatso ever.i have the same ignition you have on my zdz80 and on the module it say input voltage 4.8- 6.0 volts.you should be able to get at least five flights.you should always check your battery voltage before every flight just to be on the safe side.hope this helps.

2s1320 Lipo, 5V regulator. Eight 10-minute flights uses little over half capacity. Stock CRRC 26 ignition

Re: Ingnition battery for CRRC 26i w. Rexel CDI?

Rather than a few grams of weight savings, why would you want to go with an expensive Lipo and have to use a regulator? Just asking as I would really like to know!

I have used a 4.8v 2700 mAH NiMH on a 50cc gasser and gotten at least 5 flights no problem. Then if necessary, its only about a 15 minute top up with a standard field charger and away I go again!

I would really like to know the advantage of using a Lipo and regulator!

Thanks!

I have the 45 version of this engine and using a 4.8 / 1100 mah nicad battery I get 7 - 8 flights. I'm now using the ignition on my Taurus 52 ( the C & H crapped out twice ) and still get 7 - 8 flights no problem and these are 10 - 12 min. flights actual flying time. I have tested the battery a few times after getting home and I average 350 mah left when I do.

I'm running a 2700 NiMH battery on my RCExel ignition. My ignition draws 85Mah per flight!

How about 1500 ma LiIon cells. 4.2 volts fully charged.
Charge with a lipo charger. A 2s 2p pack gives you 3000 ma.
$5.00 each cell plus shipping.

Some guys are useing two A123 batts. without a regulator. Charging after every flight or two, depending on how much they put back in after a charge which takes 10 to 15 mins.
