you can also use loctite 515 .it,s a gasket sealer. red stuff. i use it all the time when working on,s great to seal backing plates and carb fills in small inperfections on mating can use it on metel on metal even with no gaskets. i also use it on small engines which i have overhauled over the years.

My back plate had a n o-ring on it so there is no need to seal it. I just need to keep the screws tight. I will try to find some of the recomended lock tite.
