Re: What glue for coroplast?

I built my SPAD wing with contact glue. It works great but the castor oil got into the joint (85 flight) and made its work there so the right part of the wing needed to be cleaned up and reglued.
After an impressive kart wheel the spar let go from the coroplast just on the tips: I then took a business card put plenty of PU glue on both sides and passed it in the gap. It never came apart after.
So in conclusion I like working with contact glue as it allows for quick assembly
on the other side if you have the time and want a more permanent bond I vote for PU glue

My 2 cents

It is the best bar none for spar to coro joints, and on flat surface to surface coro joints such as ailerons, wing trailing edges, fuse doublers. Simply lightly scuff the surface with 220 sandpaper, apply two coats to each surface, let dry and press them together. I've never had a joint fail, and it has just enough flexibility to give in an impact instead of cracking.

Having said that, PU and CA glue both have there uses with coro.

PU, with the addition of 1 drop of water per ounce, is excellent for bedding 4-40 rod in coro flutes, and also, it is exclellent for brushing on the inside of a rounded fuselage to stiffen and reinforce the coro.
I tried contact cement, back 3 years ago and it was ok for a large sanded area where NO FUEL gets to it, and it did not work well with coro bulkheads, because of low surface area. I use the Elmers Ultimate Glue, it is good on all foam, wood, and coro. Contact Cement will eat foam.
POLYURETHANE GLUE is the only one that foams up to cover flute cuts on the body, to give it maximum strength.
CA and Kicker is fast and strong, but so are the fumes, bad irritant. Should use in a vented area when using it, hard to have windows open in the winter.
Do not be hesitant to try something new, but test it on a scrap bit first....
