Re: A Question

Dennis, Kelly;

I went through the MAAC website and cannot find the noise section in the Scale rules, nor is there anything else that I could find that gives the document.

Can either of you please post the relevant document link so we can see what the MAAC rule is, rather than relying on our own personal memory as is my case.

I seem to remember 98 DB at 3 meters and 93 (90?) at 8 meters, but that may be the Mississauga and Aurora club rules.

Thanks in advance!

Re: A Question

Not an option Peter. If there is a set level in the rule book of 96 dB (A). Would your jets pass this ground test? How would you feel if someone complained the jets were too noisy and insisted on testing them? This was brought to my attention by a future competitor who may be flying a jet model. It is not the committee’s practice to just ignore any legitimate concern. The simplest way to handle this is to look into what other organizations have done to address this. No sense in reinventing the wheel. A motion will have to be made to change this rule. I know next to nothing about jets but I will need to have an easily understood rational to support this change. That is why I asked for contact information of anyone who has working knowledge of how the changes came about for different organizations. At this time I have received an answer from Narve Jensen FAI Scale Chairman. I am looking it over now and will post his response shortly.

Re: A Question

Just for everyone's information, Dennis and I have been in contact. As well the Jet Committee is currently working on this. There is a lot of work and research to be done over the weekend but in the end, we expect a positive outcome.
