Thought my jet was pretty fast...

A little off topic lol. I've had a Samurai slope glider for years, but never geared it up until now. Holy c@#!, it matches the speed of my DV8R! Not surprising given it's got wings that resemble razor blades. No elevator, rudder or ailerons either just wingerons. The speed may match my jet but that's about it. My DV8R will fly slow, the slope glider just falls out of the sky.

Re: Thought my jet was pretty fast...

A number of years ago my son invited me to fly with him at Point of the Mountain south of Salt Lake City, a premier glider site. I took my 2-meter slow flyer and he shows up with his Samurai. We both launch and I am enjoying the brisk cool winds (March time frame) trying to see if I can hover and hold my position over the edge of the hill. All the while I could hear this whoop, whoop noise as his glider is going by, very fast. It is extremely quick and was eating up a lot air space, fast. The wind changes just a tad and I am still trying to hold my hover and the next whoop I hear, he takes off the rear third of my elevator with his razor wings. I still have control with the remaining elevator and manage to bring my wounded bird down for a safe landing. He lands his Samurai and I told him I just had to have a photo of him and his glider with his "sorry Dad" smile. That's my Samurai experience. Much faster than any jet I have flown.
