The only reason for a lithium back up in my opinion is to run the date and run a clock. And that should be the only thing that needs to be reset in the event the lithium battery dies.

DX7 doesn't have a backup batt.

If I remember right, it needs to be sent in as it's a programming error in the trans. I remember when this was discussed way back when they first came out.

Well, just got off the phone with them, I'm getting a new one.
They won't say what the problem is, but sounds like what your saying Flypaper, programming error.
