The Ajax Club had 26 attendees and the most excellent chicken soup. There were 6 pilots with 8 planes, and lots of flights. A couple of the planes won't start and we had our 1st offical crash of the year. A perfect way to start the year.

Re: New Years Day

The parking lot was jammed at the Humber Valley club around noon. Lots of pilots and everybody's model went home entact. Guest visitor Mike from Orangeville put on a squinting clinic for the crowd with his Magnum. Those things glide like a brick! Thanks erg for the pic.

Re: New Years Day

We had about 20 or so out in Aurora. There were several that had flights.
There were even a few wives in attendance.
We had the Bar-B-Q out and did up hotdogs. Also a camp stove with a big pot of hot chocolate that we were scooping out with a laddle.
It was a great day.

Saturday is looking promising weather wise as well

Re: New Years Day

Without a doubt the best flying day so far this year !!

...for those that flew, that is.... -25 C......nice crisp sunny blue sky and a few brave souls were at the field at first light this morning. For the rest of us, the wood stove was a very popular gathering spot,,,,, The club provided bbq hot dogs, coffee, and cocoa..... all in all, a great get together...

Re: New Years Day

Well, I had the field all to myself today. I couldn't seem to induce anyone else to join me. One chap stopped by the field on his way home from work as I was getting ready to pack up.

Got in three flights, two with a float equiped PT-40 and one with my other PT-40 on wheels.

Temp was -10, and almost no wind, with bright sunshine. Gorgeous day, the rest of you guys don't know what you missed.

I know what I missed but since I have had surgury on both hands for the curling up syndrome as soon as I go outside they go numb. Maybe it's the brain who knows.

Re: New Years Day

Glad to hear that so many of you also had a great day.
Here in Dryden, we had about 15 pilots show up at Jerome's house to his groomed runways and heated garage. even a little snow couldn't keep us grounded.
happy new year!

Re: New Years Day

Sounds like there was a lot of Polar Bear Flying going on across the country. I was out for a short while in Uxbridge, Ont. Usual flying buddies were suprisingly absent as conditions were very calm & sunny. Only problem was that after 2 mins in the air my finger tips (in fingerless gloves) were so cold I could not get the sensitivity needed to control things properly & had to land. Does anyone have a patented solution to the frozen fingers problem?

HPN to All,
