The more that reply the better!
Having been the bagman in several clubs for these things, I've come to some pretty standard conclusions.

First off, everything that gets given out comes to the club for free. I solicit the stuff and being your friendly bagman, it's my job to get those donations and contributions for free. That's a skill you can easily develop.

Second, everyone who makes contributions for the draws gets tons of offical recognition. They are all acknowledged in our newsletter, on our website, by a giant poster at the event and they are mentioned at the time of the give away. Many times. If we happen to be having a dinner, all contributors get a free pair of tickets to it.

Third, everything is given away for free. This stuff is always door prizes.

Fourth, there is enough loot so that everyone gets something. It's much better to have a bunch of people getting something than most people getting nothing. Everyone likes loot.

Fifth, the give aways are something of value and useful for the recipients. The use may be in the activities that the club focuses on or something else. But they are not trinkets. Generally, they range in value from about $10 and up.

Sixth, I usually make a major contirbution of loot myself - something like commemorative mugs, laser engraved MAGLite flashlights, personally laser engraved Space Pens - that sort of thing.

Seventh, don't be cheap.
