This text was in the body of an email I received this morning regarding SAM at the AMA Convention the past weekend:

" What was there, and big time, was a bunch of new Chinese manufacturers or Asian/Chinese distributors. I'd never heard of "Banana Hobbies" and I suspect none of you have either. They had a 5 booth setup with all sorts of foam ducted fan jets. Working the counter behind those jets seemed to be an entire extended Chinese family from grandma down to a 4 year old boy."

I'm very new to this forum and was wondering if anyone can share some thoughts about an online rc hobby store called Banana Hobby.

They have a diverse variety of electric rc products that seem very reasonably priced but they are somewhat of an enigma to me.
I've called their customer service number numerous times only to get a constant busy signal or no answer at all after the line eventually rings.

Interested in whether or not they are a reputable online store to deal with.

Any comments would be appreciated, both positive and/or negative experiences that you can share.

Cheers, it's great to have a forum of this caliber in Canada.

We also have avery good dealer in CANADA equally good prices after you factor in the US exchange compared to any others dealing in US$..

Re: Banana Hobby

Hobby city still the best even after the exchange rate and shipping as long as you order a few things, and they only took 3 days on my last oreder just last week.

Unfortunately, until the Canadian online companies start carrying Turnigy products, Hobby City will always win.

I go to Hobby City for almost all my electric needs. They have the best prices, hands down, and so far all the equipment I've used from them has worked very well! Their Zippy line of LiPos has been perfect so far and the Turnigy ESCs have worked well also. Even factoring in exchange and shipping, they're way cheaper than anything I can get locally.

The problem with our local shops is that they don't carry Turnigy, or the cheaper brands. Their prices are high because E-flite and Castle and the rest are all priced high. Unfortunately, at least as far as the motors and batteries are concerned, E-Flite is way overpriced when compared to the value of the Turnigy motors and Zippy batteries. They work just as well or better than the big names.

If our local shop every started selling Turnigy or any of the Hobby City lines, I'd be all over it for all my hobby needs!
