Engine drill guide

I am tired of trying to drill engine mounts using the engine itself as a guide and thought that this would be an easier way. With this guide you can get everything nice and straight and positioned correctly. Takes about an hour to make. Scrap 3/4 in. ply and some 1/8 x 1 1/2 bar stock aluminum for Home depot. Pictured are guides for a Saito 82 and a Saito 100

Re: Engine drill guide

Definitely a great idea.

Some sort of jig or marking guide is the way to go.

Re: Engine drill guide

Ditto on the great idea of engine mock ups. ALso good for displaying an airframe and attaching prop and spinner!

A method I learned from some mech engineers was to print out full size CAD drawings and adhere the drawing to your material (3M 77 spray works well).

From another modeler I learned how to make permanent tape temporary, just stick it to your jeans first and cover it with fibers.
