Hi Dennis

We found that the shrink tube FR5 doesn't move if it's at least 3/8in. on the CF rods but CA also works.

This type of construction seems weak but it has some advantages, wing bracing will take care of the weakness but on the other hand, you can build two models with a length of 1mm x3mm x 48in. carbonfiber, sorry about mixing the numbers, I'm just confused between the metric system and the other one. I know I should have stayed in school longer, a bit late now, isn't it.
Gaston instead of gluing the carbon fiber try using the hinge tape and tape it to the front of the wing. That way when you need a new plane you just remove the tape and reuse it.

Re: Blue Foamie

I found the 5fr tubing btw Gaston, but the place I went to first wanted to sell me a whole box full of 100 15" pieces for $75

I might buy a half a box considering we have 50 sheets of foam to play with now!

Hi Andrew

I could buy some and give them to Michelle, it's up to you, I think I paid 75 cents each. By the way, when are you coming up.

Andrew

I finally got my computer DVD working and checked John Pearson's unedited video, there are 6 clips with anywhere from 13 to 43 MB each, Did you want me to put it in the mail.

Re: Blue Foamie

Hi Guys
Greets from Saint John
Sorry to interrupt your thread but I'm wondering if there are any Maritimers reading that might now where to get some of the blue foam.
I've checked all the bs stores here to no avail.
If the shipping wasn't to prohibitive I'd order some in But where to get it?
I just got a fancy foam for xmas and its a blast to fly but so far I've only flown outside as my skills aren't good enough for the "more confined space" of the gym I've even had a time of it outside . And waiting for the CALM day means Not a lot of fly time!!!!

So I've got the rigging but would like a plane that I'm not so worried about crashing and that might hold up a bit better.
Thanks
Any help/info would be appreciated

Hugh

Hi Hugh

The only place we were able to get some has been Lowes in The US, we had some sent by courier and it cost us around $65.00 for 25 sheets, that's how many there are in a bundle, which is not too bad, it ended only $1.30/sheet for shipping and the bundle is only around $36.00 US. The problem was that someone had to package the bundle for shipping. Call the closest Lowes near your location and let us know how you make out.

Re: Blue Foamie

Try the Elmers foam core panels at Stapples at $4,86 each, you only have to soak it in the bath overnite with a little soap in the water so the paper on it peels up. The foam is white and seems to be of very nice quality and only 5mm thick.
For one plane you need two panels. Good luck
