Hi Dan

I already built a couple of these foamies for two of your club members, Michael Wong and Steve Simpson. One of them was last year and the other one last month.

Re: Blue Foamie

Hi

We just built a few blue foam Yak 55's with a revised set of plans, adapted to our way of building and assembly, from RC Group. I tried one Wednesday morning at one of our local rinks, it looks like a winner also, we'll let you know Sunday how well it flies, the all up weight is around 6.2 oz.

Re: Blue Foamie

Hi

We've posted the plans for the Blue Foamy(Click) and the Blue Foamy Yak 55 on our club website, feel free to download them, the build is basically the same for both models, it is quick and simple, no special glue, just hot glue, except a couple drops of CA to fabricate the landing gear.
If you want more details on the construction, go to the Building foamie building thread.
Don't hesitate to ask questions here or if you prefer, send me a pm and I'll be more than happy to help.
Go to our website and click on plane plans.

Re: Blue Foamie

Hi
Someone just pointed out that the plan on our website is for a Yak 55 and he's right, I own two 50cc Yak 54's, one with a Wren turboprop and one with a 50cc DA, I should know better, as far as I know, one of the main differences is that the 54 is a two seater and the 55 is a single seater. To tell you the truth, I've flown both models with blue foam and I prefer the 55 myself but I'm no expert as you might have noticed

Merry Christmas to all. Here is the little clip I made using all of the photos taken on Dec 20 of the Greater Sudbury Modelers at Hanmer High. Turn up the volume.
Enjoy

Re: Blue Foamie

A few of us had the opportunity to fly the Blue Foamie Yak55 and all I have to say, it is awesome, it's under 6oz with a 360mah 2s battery and 6.2 oz with a 460, it's lighter than the BF Click and I love it. You're welcome to plans for it on our website.

Re: Blue Foamie

Hi

Ray and myself milled a Yak 55 today for trial at tomorrow's indoor flying session, it came out at 5.4 oz AUW with a 360mah. Well see how it performs and we'll let you know. I think it's pretty good for using blue foam and with a 32in. wingspan model.

Re: Blue Foamie

Hi

I flew the milled Yak55 today at the gym, it has to be the best I've flown to date, it hovers at half power, flies incredibly slow if you want, it's only 0.4oz heavier than FF Yak55M and we're going to mill in a bit more areas and likely get it under 5oz AUW. Even after all that milling, it's still very strong compared to depron and easily repairable, it's all put together with hot glue. I was hit four or five times today, prop strikes, head-ons and everything under the son, it still flies like a dream.
I even tried a 460mah battery, flies well and surprisingly still hovers at half power but performs better with a 360mah.
The best part is that it's only five bucks for the fuselage and assembled in a couple hours.
I had to make a minor change to the leading edge, due to the milling, which will be added to the assembly instructions on our website very soon.
