I usually move the pack until it flies level both upside and ...down side. Easy to do too, takes only one or two laps to check, land, adjust and launch. I never understood when people set planes up wimpy that don't fly the same in all axis.

Exactly my point.

I am not an aerodynamics guy - so I dont know why these flat plate planes are so tolerant of a pretty far back CG (which would make a typical airfoiled rc plane uncontrollable).

All I know is with some of the guys I fly with - they are reluctant to mave the pack back to get a better flying plane.

And by better flying, I mean capable of flying very slow without diving, easier and more stable hovering, flying well upright and inverted, and much easier landings (slower and less likely to drop when power is cut).

Re: Blue Foamie

Anyone familliar with the Infineon Bipe? Tonight I thought I'd give a micro a try. I scaled it down on my printer to a wingspan of 19.5 inches. Used the $1.25 Dollaramma foam with the paper taken off and carbon fibered the wings. Just need to wait for the 2.5 gram servos and the c05 turnigy motor with 8amp esc to come in the mail. Guess I should weigh it to see if the motor will pull it. Has anyone tried doing this? If so how did it work out?

I had the I3D the largest version, and it flew really nice.

Re: Blue Foamie

Here are the two I just finished for indoor this winter... An Edge 540, REDBULL, and a YAK 54. Both are 22" wingspan with 10gr outrunners on 7.4 lipos.. One on 72megs the other on 2.4 gigs
On top of that, I have my Blade CX2, converted tail, and a Lacey 12" foamy on the 6gr motor brushed and naturally, a VAPOR....
Should be an interesting season...

Re: Blue Foamie

We had our first indoor flying session of the season, there were around a dozen pilots, from different clubs in our area, we had a wonderful time.
I was wondering if it would be as much fun as the previous years, it's actually more enjoyable every year, I'm certainly more relaxed due to the lower cost of the equipment, I love it.
The social aspect also has a lot to offer, as usual, we meet at a local restaurant for breakfast prior to flying, exchange ideas plus a lot of b.s. as you can imagine, we can't ask for more.

We'll post some pics next week, I had too much fun just flying around.
