If you can get your hands on a GWS 8043 SF you would never use an 8x4 again, it's like night and day, plus you don't need any bushing. I'm waiting for some lighter servos from HK, they only weigh 3.7g instead of 5g, that's almost 4g for all three servos.

Re: Blue Foamie

Mornin GB
Hey, nice pics and nice models... Here are three models I fly indoor, all out of 5mm EPP and hotmelt glue for assembly.. The models are plans taken from my 33" models reduced to 20" wingspans and fly good in our gym.
The YAK 54 has a 17gr outrunner, with the GWS 4 channel reciever, 10amp ESC and battery is a 480mAh lipo. The landing gear is an easy one to make... Use 1/4" square basswood 1" long, cut a grouve for the piano wire gear, drill a hole in one end, bend the wire at one end for the hole, bout 1/4" long, lay the wire in this and then bend the other end at a 45 degree angle down to the wheel and bend again, so it's toed in a bit, then drill your wheels to fit the wire, I use 1/16" piano wire and attach with a wheel collar.
The Edge 54 is the same material, spray painted to match a RedBull aircraft used at the air races in Windsor this past summer. (I might add, the spray job is lousey, hydro went out while I was almost finished painting, so that's why it looks lousey...
As I said, EPP 5mm, hotmelt glue, this receiver is the 6110 2.4gig of Spectrum.. Again, landing gear is made the same way... Motor is the new EMax 2412, found i needed the power to get it up... On a 310mAh lipo.. Servos used in both models are the 5gr from Lazertoyz, Ohio..
The third ship is a reduced size of one manufactured by a fellow in Hanover, FoamieDisc.com I made this one 15" dia and again, 5mm EPP n hotmelt... Tried to fly it with a 5gr motor but not enough power so, went to a 19gr motor, again from Lazertoyz, and it pulls it with authority... Props are all 8/4 GWS..
Just my end of the indoor models...

Re: Blue Foamie

Boy, have I missed out on a lot.. Just went back in the forum to read what I've missed... Must make a point of looking more often...
However, our second indoor event last Sunday proved very successful. 12 flyers out again for the two hour stint. Gonna increase the time to 3 hours starting with our January event...
In the meantime, here's some shots of last Sundays outing..... As you see, Vapors are the most saught after model, with a few 3D flyers to..
Our Zone Director, Frank Klenk is having a ball with us, so is Brian Mailloux...
Pics tell all...
Art.

Re: Blue Foamie

Hi Foamball

I really like all your pics, looks like you guys are having a real good time, it shows on all your faces. We get a few more pilots but some leave early, not because, they have no more planes, they just have other things to do.
I'd like you to do me a favor, I'm sending you a pm.

By the way where are you in those pictures.

Re: Blue Foamie

The rain let this morning so I manage to get a flight in before it turned dark, my bro was at work so I had to film on my tripod. I'm editing it right now and will have it up as soon as I can.

Thanks for the video, that was awesome flying, certainly looks light, mind you that you're quite an accomplished pilot.
Thanks again.
