I tried one this past weekend, the weight is very good, even with the motor mount, it's only 15 grams. It performed very well, it has incredible power but it will shorten your flight a bit, be ready, it's surprisingly powerful and will be at the ceiling in no time.

I was using a GWS 8043 SF , fits right on, no need for a bushing and lots of power.

Re: Blue Foamie

Hey smokenrv, like this snow we is getting? Just what the doctor ordered, to stay indoor with yer Vapor...
Sounds like you will have a new one for the January indoor event, in London, that is if the snow stops....

Re: Blue Foamie

The snow just keeps comin', so building planes is what the doctor ordered for sure.

Re: Blue Foamie

Received my Yak 55 Kit in the mail today, and I'm very impressed with the quality of foam cutting, Gaston does a nice job of these foam kits. First impression was, wow nice cutting and I liked the small size of the plane itself, this will be my first 4.5oz foamie, the lightest foamie I've flown to date is a 6.5 ozer, should be fun.
The hardware is nicely baged in a ziplock, wheels, heat shrink, and "Z" bend ends, all in the bag, and the CF rods neatly bundled in a set.
I'm going with Gaston's recommended set-up except I'm using an E-Flite park 250 motor, it weighs 15g w/ mount.
Hope to get started on it this weekend!

Re: Blue Foamie

Finally got with smoknrv4 yesterday and got my YAK 55 Kit..
Am amazed at how light, yet strong, this is..
It will be an easy thing to build and will also follow Gastons recommendations for equipment...
CNC cutting was sensational.
Here is one kit all you guys should have..... Can't wait till our January indoor meet to test fly it..

Re: Blue Foamie

Sounds like these blue foamie Yaks are spreading like the flu virus Gaston.
What are you going to do about it? You'll have to provide the cure I guess.LOL

BTW I'm starting on mine right now.
