Radio question

I have an E-sky Transmitter that origionally came with a Blade CP heli and was wondering if someone might tell me if this radio will transmit full range or is it only for close in flying as with park flyers and such??

Its a 6 channel FM radio, as I said, that was part of a Blade heli package. Does it have special programming for helis built in or can it be used for perhaps flying something like a SPAD? Its in like brand new condition so I hate to just chuck it if it might be useful for other planes.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Re: Radio question

don't know about the range but it has built in ccpm mixing for the heli and I don't think that can be changed.

Re: Radio question

Belt CP, not Blade (that's eflite not esky)

Got one of those radios here, I remember reading something about this, I hope I saved the info. There was something about switches inside...

Re: Radio question

Yes, the CCPM mixing CAN be turned off. The problem I found is that I did not have control over Channel 6 when I did so.

There are two sets of switches under the batteries. Behind #3 are two horizontal switches in a red housing numbered 1 and 2. They control the mixing. Normally, when flying CCPM helis the switches would be set to:

TOP, (#1)-- ON

To turn off the mixing, say to use it for a PC SIM, switches set to this:

This is the orientation you would use if you wanted to fly an aircraft.

The other two switches are behind Battery #1 and flip the transmitter between MODE 1 and 2.

As for range, in CCPM mode I found I could run my heli just about as far as I could see, but the King2 is not a large machine and stayed relatively close at hand. Just be advised the ESKY receiver is not the finest piece of kit out there, suffering from a vulnerability to RF and a possible loose crystal socket issue. For the Tx there are numerous accounts of dirty and erratic control pots and a few of the same loose crystal socket problem as the Rx.
