Jumpstarting Lipo,s??

What is all this about boosting Lipos with a Nicad charger. How do you do it. I have a 3s 2200 25c pack that seams low on power and thought Id try it. I also have a 4s that has one cell lower than the others and will not balance. Is this a good time to Jumpstart?

More info Please!

Re: Jumpstarting Lipo,s??

Trevor, it's a good time to throw away those batteries. a bad battery is a bad battery, period.

There have been instances where people have discharged their lipos so far that a proper lipo charger will not initiate charge because the voltage of the pack is too low. some have had success charging briefly and under supervision to bring the pack voltage up to where the lipo charger can start a charge.

those cases would be where the pack in question was a good pack before the owner fouled up.

That brings me back to my first statement. a bad battery is a bad battery. The low power you're experiencing is from an aging lipo. boosting will not change this.

a bad cell in a pack is also indicative of a problem pack. boosting will not help that either.

Re: Jumpstarting Lipo,s??

If you are using a balancing charger and it won't balance you should buy a new battery.
