I am not going to get around to building the ultimate kit I have anytime soon, so I am considering an ARF for now. So which could it be: the GP skybolt arf or the CG Ultimate arf. they appear to be about the same sized plane.

does anyone know how the great planes skybolt behaves in the air as compared to the goldberg ultimate?

Also, how big of an engine can the skybolt accomodate? I have a saito 150 here which is looking for a ride

Re: great planes skybolt

I am building the Skybolt kit. The plans show installation of a .61 2 stroke or a 1.20 4 stroke. I am using a 1.20 4 stroke. A club member has a .90 powered ARF Skybolt that flies very well. I would suggest that anything over 1.20 would be overpowered. Prop/ground clearance might also be an issue with a larger engine.

Been flying the ultimate arf for 3 years now. Saito 125. Flys great. Could very easily handle a bigger engine. The 125 balances it well with no mods.

I have the Skybolt. Engine is an OS 1.08 and it has gobs of power. Prop is a 15x8. On landing I have to be careful to grease it in ever so nice or the prop will touch and snap. Mine is tail heavy and yet it handles nice. It'll do anything you can throw at it. It does an awesome blender too.
