I am in the process of balancing my Yak. What I have read is that on high wing planes you balance from underneath the wing, and on low wing planes you balance from on top of the wing.

My question is where do you measure c of g from a mid wing plane.

Appreciate the input.

Re: Balance

How you balance the plane is a matter of convenience, not aerodynamics. It is easier to balance a ball in the bottom of a bowl than it is to balance the ball on top on another ball. The former "system" is stable, the latter is not.

Try both ways with your mid-wing plane. Unless the weight is perfectly distributed between top and bottom half, then balancing one way will be easier than the other. Either way the balance point is the same.
