PET G sheets?

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
Ihave recently hacked togeather a crude vacuum forming machine, and would like to try moulding my own cowls/ canopies etc. After trying a few household plastics with varying degrees of success I was told PETG sheets are the way to go... Where can I find these without a huge minimum order?
Is there any way to scrounge this stuff from packaging or something? I had good luck with hoby store polystyrene sheets too but they are like 5 bucks for a little 6x10" sheet. Im a student and I'm kind of working on a budget here... Help!

Try cutting open 2 litre coke bottles from the grocery!
Use Tamiya paints from the hobby shop (car section)

Re: PET G sheets?

I just bought a sheet of 030 PETG in 4x8 from Sabin Polymer forms out here in Calgary and it was $20 or so. Enough to last me three years!

Re: PET G sheets?

Hi; I have used the pop bottles before.

You will have to experiment some as they only shrink so much.

I had to add some wood chunks to take up some space to get it formed to the right shape.

Good luck.
