I just got back from the Finger Lakes district in New York State.
Found a few interesting museums that friends told me about.
The Glenn Curtiss Museum is quite good.
It is located at 8419 Wayne Road, Hammondsport N.Y.
The National Warplane Museum (Wings of Eagles) was also pretty good.
It is located at 17 Aviation Drive, Horseheads N.Y.
Got to actually go into the restoration shop at both museums.
We mere the only ones there as it was the off season and during the week. I actually was allowed to climb over the hand rail and into the cockpit of an F14 Tomcat! Feet on the rudder pedals and hand on the stick!!!
Pretty tight fit and lots of instruments. Even manged to find the control to sweep the wings.
The National Soaring Museum is located at 51 Sring Hill Drive.
I didn't get time to go there.
We stayed in Corning as it is pretty close to all these sites.
Corning also has the Corning Glass Museum and the Rockwell Museum of Western Art.
