Yay, I finally had a nice weather here today, and the day off work too!
This gave me the opportunity to spend some time with my trex450. I went through 8 flights. I only have two battery packs so my charger was busy and couldn't keep up. I cut the grass and did some yard work while waiting.
It was great. No wind, sun shining. Big open empty parking lot.
I am just learning to fly helicopters, by myself, and am happy to report that there were no incidents today. But there were a few times where I did say "oh-oh" to myself and felt a bit of adrenalin coming on. But I kept the nerves in check and managed to get the wicked little egg beater back into control and stabilized.
I did a bunch of hovering with the heli facing different directions. Did some sideways flying back and forth about 50' each side, and a bunch of "hops" to about 80' up in the air.
I used a chalk to draw out a 4' diameter circle on the pavement, and I am also happy to report that I was able to hit it consistently without too much wandering around.
I have definitly got a long way to go before being able to say "I fly helicopters", but I feel I gave it a really good go today. Not bad for a first timer imho.
