Question reinforcing wing attachment on SC

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
Hi, new to this whole thing. I just got a Super Cub and read somewhere that some people reinforce the part of the plane where the wings contact at the back (sorry not a great description) I was wondering if a small piece of aluminum flashing secured to the body would do a good job or if it is going to add to much weight?

Any thoughts?

I would think that aluminum is overkill for that. You'd probably be fine just finding some thin plastic or wood.

Whatever you add, make sure the thickness under the wing isn't thick at all, or be sure to space the whole wing up by that thickness to not effect the angle of attack of the wing.

Re: reinforcing wing attachment on SC

When I had my SC I just used a piece of light ply. Basically anything light but strong enough to keep the plastic on the wing from digging its way into the foam on the fuse.
