first run DL 111

I have just installed the DLE 111 in my Toc Yak I flew the plane for four tanks today great day at the field.
I originally had it propped with a 28X10 Xoar but could not manage 6000 rpm so I swapped it out for a 27X10...four tanks later and 7150 rpm!!!!! think its time to re-prop it now, again with the 28X10. The Yak which is a bit porky at 28 pounds has unlimited vertical with the 27X10, itís on a pair of MTW 75 cans and flex headers.
In comparison the DA with a PT Carbon 28X10 would tach at 5700 ish and the vertical was disappointing. I think these guys have got the DLE right!!!! Its starts and runs amazing transitions great and has low vibes, mine is idling at 1275 rpm with out any serious vibes and at 7150 wot its super smooth, I guess the real challenge will be longevity I still have the Da and everybody who had dealt with the guyís at DA know the customer service is the best, however I sourced my motor and all the other 10 or so from Johnny at Azzure and I tell you the customer service Johnny extends it fantastic also, I have no problem with Johnny he is a great guy to deal with and he is in Canada even better.
I had a great day at the field today I totally trust the DLE and had more fun with the plane because of it, it never missed a beat all day, I did slightly lean out the top end and fattened up the bottom end but with the 27X10 had to richen it up a tad because of the extra rpm that pretty much put the settings back to factory so it looks like it good to go straight out of the box. Bang for the buck I really canít see any motor coming close to this new gem from DL!!!!!!!! And if in a 100 flights its still performing well then what would be the point of the Extra $$$$ for the American made mill?????? Gotta tell you all I love the motor, Colin.
When I grow up I want to be a pilot!!
