Re: Today

While we are celebrating living in the best country of all, we should also say a little prayer for our sons and daughters serving in our Armed Forces, that they may all be home soon and safe.

Re: Today

Well said Roscoe, lets bring back our troups ASAP. Enough killing! Lets pray that our pro-war government will be soon replaced by a more pacific one so that we can again have a reason to say it is the best country in the world.

Re: Today

I came to Canada in 1966, having worked in Ireland with a Canadian company for several years.
The celebrations around the 1967 Centennial showed me what a beautiful multicultural and coherent society we had here. I coined the phrase " the only people who do not appreciate Canada, are the Canadians themselves".

Having lived in several countries in both northern and southern hemispheres and worked in most provinces and territories in Canada, I am more than happy to live in Canada and Nova Scotia in particular.
It is a bit of a disappointment to find that the camaraderie of Centennial Year has morphed into today's focus of minority priorities rather than aiming for the unified consolidation of our future as Canadians.
As an Irishman (and proud of it), I did not settle in our wonderful Canada to become an isolated ethnic minority.
Canadian by choice and not by coincidence.
