SPE engines

Has anyone had any experience with SPE engines? Great Hobbies backs them with a 2 year in house warranty. The listing of parts carried in stock is also impressive. I'm always leary about the lowest cost product (you get what you pay for kind of thing). I'm interested in the 26 cc for the new topflight P 47 ARF. Any thoughts about the engine or the plane?
Thanks in advance. Shad

Re: SPE engines

I had one for about 2 years in a 9.5 lb. Citabria. It ran well and flew fine but you may find it a bit short on power unless you can keep the weight down to around 8.5 pounds..
I found it to be comparable to the .91 four stroke that I previously had in the Citabria.
I have a Funtana 100 that weighs 10 pounds with a MVVS 26cc engine on a tuned pipe/muffler.
It will go vertical as far as you can see.
The tuned pipe makes a huge difference in the power you can get from these engines. .. Not much help for you in a P47 ..

Re: SPE engines

I have a 26 in a Beaver.. Seems to run fine, bought it because I could flip the cylinder 180 deg.. I needed the intake and exhaust opposite to what they were (previous engine).. Would I buy another one.. Yeah maybe, I have MVVS/Evo 26's too that I like more.. But the SPE has a good price for what you get...
