Re: MAAC Site

It's been on the agenda for well over a year. Looks like the effort has paid off, looks great.

Re: MAAC Site

Interesting...I am on the Giant scale committee but it says there are no members assigned to this committee.

Re: MAAC Site

Dave, there's going to be some growing pains.
Chances are the entire site has not been finished!

Re: MAAC Site

For the first "go around" the site looks pretty good to me. There are still several items that need to be updated, but if each zone/club advises MAAC about the short comings, we should have an excellent site when all has been said and done. I haven't had time to go through the entire site, but I like what I have seen to date. Nice job!!!

Re: MAAC Site

I believe the site went active yesterday.

My understanding is that lots of the little things (such as who is on what committee etc. ) will be a work in progress, but the brief look I have had looks well thought out. Very functional, informative and professional. Welcome MAAC to the modern world.

You folks can thank a good'ol Northern Gentleman by the name of Peter Schaffer from way up here in Kenora for spearheading the new site. Peter approached the board with concerns about the lack of usefulness and function of the old site and was challenged to come up with a plan of action...... he took that challenge and some 2 or so years later, (no small job working through the political and technical challenges) we are seeing the result.

And for those who don't know the 2nd big player and technical brains behind the new site is none other than this site's webmaster...

....... Well done Peter and Jason. Thanks and I look forward to watching the site's development.

Re: MAAC Site

Sharpy,s input is accurate.
There is a lot of clean up left to do regarding membership on committees for example and all of them are blank right now.
There is percentage of the site that is available to the MAAC board, staff, and executive committee only but these functions have been made much more user friendly for us too including on line voting, and conversation.
I particularly like the rotating photos on the home page especially since I spotted my 1/3 Spacewalker there this morning!
Peter has been a real plus since he arrived on the scene from the frigid North of Ontario, and is involved in several other projects for MAAC and has been a real booster of his club in such areas as Trillium grants which he helped my club with also.
He serves as the deputy zone director for Northern Ontario and Manitoba and is very much hands on with these duties.
Jason first bid on the MAAC site creation and maintainance several years ago and the board has been more than satisfied with his creativity, attention to detail, and response to any problems since.
Now it is up to we zone directors to clean up our own zone sites and bring them up to date but we now have much superior tools to do the job.
Thank you Peter and Jason.
