Balancing 3-Blade Props

I am looking for information on how to balance 3-blade props. I am familar with balancing two blade props, both the props and the hub, but not sure how to approach doing a 3-blade prop.

Any suggestions or links to sites with information would be appreciated.

Re: Balancing 3-Blade Props

Basically the same technique is used for both 2 and 3 blade props.

However, in the case of 3-blades you can show two blades toward the bottom, (heavy) so you will need to remove mass from both to try and balance it out. If you have one of the two slightly lower then try and work that one first till both sit evenly, then try and remove the same mass from both till it will sit evenly anywhere in the rotation.

Just remember that each blade will only need 1/2 of the mass removed, so don't get too aggressive and check often.

Go to Article 8. It shows you exactly how to balance a 3 prop blade easily and properly.
